Responsible for planning, instructing and supervising a specialized class or program that requires advanced certification or skill. Examples of instruction may include, but are not limited to; land and aquatics based fitness, wellness and water safety instruction/certification courses, music, arts and crafts, sports, outdoor recreation, dance, cuisine, educational workshops, gardening, computers, personal enhancement, preschool, etc. Instruction may target individuals or groups across the age and ability spectrum.

Classes are self-supporting, and funding comes from participant fees. Scheduling and hours of work vary.  If you have skills and experience to share and would like to teach a class at a City recreation center, please apply and detail your qualifications, and your concept can be considered.

Experience Qualifications:
   - Minimum of one year of experience instructing the specialized class/skill OR three years of experience participating at a high level in the specialized skill/class in a competitive, organized environment. 

Education Qualifications:
   - Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

Skills: Thorough knowledge of professional behavior in a recreation environment; ability to maintain order among participants; to instruct participants with different learning styles.  Must be able to demonstrate positive customer service skills when communicating with participants, parents and staff. Must have a strong safety orientation.  Must be able to think independently and develop routines for teaching specific exercise classes.
