This position serves within the Construction and Projects Unit of the Parks Division and will need to demonstrate proficiency and experience in electrical and plumbing trades with a working knowledge in other related areas. This position typically works independently and may supervise others on a day or project basis. The incumbent works inside and outside in all types of weather. This is a mission essential position and is subject to recall or extended work days on short notice and an overtime basis to address emergencies, repairs and engage in snow removal operations. The normal work week is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and the position currently reports to the Construction Supervisor and works out of the Parks Division Shop, 1300 Pen Park Road.

Performs complicated skilled work and possesses a high level of competency and comprehensive knowledge in the repair, maintenance, installation and safety precautions in the areas of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC. Primarily work is performed independently and with minimal supervision.  Primarily and most frequently the work done here is performed as leader or director with broad functional areas and more expertise and strategic focus.

Education Qualifications:
   - High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Experience Qualifications:
   - Complete knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and tools of mechanical and electrical repairs and pertinent safety requirements; comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems usually found in office buildings, recreation centers and schools.
   - Demonstrated ability to independently plan, estimate, supervise, evaluate and perform work; comprehensive knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with equipment maintenance work.
   - Demonstrated ability to perform complicated field and shop repairs on HVAC, plumbing and electrical equipment.
   - Demonstrated ability to independently prepare, deliver and follow written and oral instructions.
   - Demonstrated ability to independently develop, read and work from engineered plans and specifications.

Special Requirements:
   - Valid Virginia driver's license required by employment start date.
   - HVAC competency also requires possession of a Gas Fitter's certificate and possession of Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 refrigeration license including refrigeration recovery.
