Under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Management Specialist, serves as the operations manager of a large year-round regional skate park. Performs professional and administrative work planning and supervising the operations, personnel, program development, day to day maintenance and delivery of services for a "wheel friendly park". Users of the park include skate boarders, bicyclist, in-line skaters and scooters. The program includes but is not limited to:  after school programs, day camps, beginner to advanced group and private instructional classes, special events, local, regional and national competition, professional exhibitions as well as potential host for Olympic trials. Completes administrative, marketing, budgeting, financial and planning duties related to the operation of a large regional skate park including oversight of all business processes and transactions. Performs other tasks related to effective management of the facility. 

Primarily and most frequently the work is performed independently, with diverse functional areas and more specialization with the ability to train others.  Supervision is exercised over subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications: 

   - Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to Bachelor's degree in recreation and park management, therapeutic recreation, or other closely related field;
   - Three years of experience in park or recreation-related work, as applicable to the position, including one year of supervisory experience;
   - Possession of a valid, appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, must be eligible to operate a City vehicle. (To view our driving eligibility requirements, go to the 'About City Jobs' section of our FAQs on the HR webpage);
   - Must possess the following certifications and be current as of the hire date: American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Heath Care Provider.
