Duties:

The Parks and Recreation Aide III duties will include, but not be limited to:

Providing customer service and enforce rules and regulations

Supervising part time staff and volunteers

Provide routing maintenance and construction of park areas, amenities and equipment

Collecting user fees/money, keeping and balancing records/reports

Individual will work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions

Assist with and/or manage special event participation

Report incidents/accident and discrepancies

Some locations require clean up and supervision of open range dog parks

Perform housekeeping/custodial duties including cleaning and maintaining all parts of the public restrooms and empty large park trash cans

Open and close facilities

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

Minimum:
High school or GED plus six (6) months? related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Some positions may require a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina driver?s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver?s license eligibility requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Varied hours, nights, weekends and some holidays required. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Special Instructions: The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules, hours and/or locations, may be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather. Maximum scheduled hours up to 27 hours per week.

This position will require a current and valid driver's license in accordance with DMV driver's license eligibility requirements.
